Faith House Manhattan This project is not expected to be fully-operational until early 2008, but major investments of time, creativity, and money have already been made to conceive of and execute the establishment of a dynamic, unprecedented interfaith spiritual center in Manhattan. The initiators of this project believe that followers of God, regardless of stripe or definition, cannot be at war with each other (nor perhaps any other)—if they are to honor God. This means that a richly-diverse array of God-followers should, together, be able to create a vibrant community of peace, tolerance, and meaning that can transform their surroundings for the better: All without losing their identity, individuality, or independence.
Symposia Community Bookstore (Hoboken)
This is AMM’s charter project, still going strong in its seventh year. Ably led by Cornel & Carmen Rusu, Symposia has become the community heart of Hoboken—providing an inviting common ground for all of Hoboken’s people to come together, learn about each other, and collaborate for the good of the community. A wide variety of events are hosted in the bookstore—from puppet shows to art exhibits to dialogues on spirituality—which is located at the center of Washington Street, Hoboken’s primary commercial/retail hub.
CityLights Congregation
This is an experimental spiritual community launched in 2003 to explore ways for those of both Christian and non-Christian heritage to love each other more and better. Led for its first three years by Robert Darken, the group is now coordinated by Julijana Kojic. It hosts and organizes regular worship events, meeting at the Friends Seminary on East 16th Street, as well as community service projects throughout the city.
AMM remains committed to developing community projects that reach New Yorkers. Ideas and brainstorms are always welcome. Join us in developing new and exciting community experiences together! Top |
