Who are we?
Adventist Metro Ministries is made up of a diverse group of individuals who share a common commitment of fostering goodness through community in New York City. We tend to attract people who come from some kind of spiritual background who have become discouraged with the way that many organized religions operate. Many individuals in our group have no current connection to organized religion at all, others retain a relationship with their church. As our name suggests, our original core group was comprised primarily of Seventh-day Adventists looking for fresh ways of expressing their faith. That group has grown both in numbers and diversity to now include people of many different faiths and backgrounds. AMM consists of a small organizational board with a flat political structure (all board members are encouraged to participate as equals and be part of the decision making process), and a larger group of supporters (financial and logistical). It is our desire to create projects, programs, and events that bring about a positive transformation in our city, and in the people who live here (including ourselves.) Overall Adventist Metro Ministries is focused on creating “sacred” spaces, where people feel free and safe to interact on every level. Where there is a desire or dream to create meaningful interaction and build community we want to help develop it. We hope to both cultivate and seed environments in which human beings connect with each other to grow personally, spiritually, and as a community. Top |
